Since its inception in 2003, The Decatur Youth Symphony program has grown to include ensembles ranging from beginning strings through advanced students, as programs such as the Percussion Ensemble, Small Ensembles program, and Each One Teach One Mentorship program. The ensembles are open to young musicians playing orchestral strings (violin, viola, cello, and bass), woodwinds, brass, and percussion. Students are placed into each ensemble based on skill level.
The Decatur Youth Symphony program currently offers these ensembles:
- Apollo
- Solaris
- Curiosity
- Decatur Youth Symphony
- Chamber Orchestra
- Percussion Ensemble (a program of Decatur Youth Services)
- World Percussion Ensemble (a program in partnership with Boys and Girls Club of Decatur)
- Libertas Guitar
- Small Ensembles
